ABOUT JATILUWIH

Jatiluwih is a village at the foot of Mount Batukaru, Kecamatan Penebel, Kabupaten Tabanan – Bali. This place is famous for natural rice terrace tourism with a cool atmosphere because it is located at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. This place presents the beauty of terraced rice fields, especially if enjoyed in the afternoon while watching the sunset.
Historically, the name of Jatiluwih Village was formerly called Girikusuma Village. The name change occurred during the reign of King Dalem Waturenggong (1460 – 1552). At that time in Girikusuma village there was a religious leader named Ida Bagus Angker who meditated and meditated (became a priest). After he became a Priest the village then changed its name to Jatiluwih village.

Rice fields in Jatiluwih use a subak irrigation system, which is a traditional Balinese irrigation or irrigation system that is community oriented.
